What is a Jessner's Chemical Peel

Jessner’s is a blended chemical peel (combining salicylic acid, lactic acid, and resorcinol) that works at both the surface and slightly deeper levels of the skin to improve tone, texture, and clarity. As an in-office peel, it’s applied in controlled layers to encourage cell turnover, smooth rough patches, and help fade post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). Jessner’s peel can be an excellent middle-ground option: stronger than very light exfoliating peels, but typically with less downtime than deeper resurfacing treatments.

Who is Jessner’s Peel best for?

Jessner’s peel is best for patients who want a stronger correction peel for pigment + texture, especially when post-acne marks or uneven tone are the main complaint.

Best for:

Patients dealing with lingering post-acne marks and uneven tone
Texture that looks rough, patchy, or “grainy”
Mild acne + pigment together (common combination)
Patients who want more visible change than a very light peel

Not always ideal for:
Very sensitive/reactive skin, severely compromised barrier, or certain pigment-prone profiles without appropriate pre/post care. We’ll assess your skin tone, history of pigmentation, and current routine to choose the safest option.

What To Expect:

During Your Peel

Skin is cleansed and prepped
Glycolic acid is applied in controlled layers
You may feel tingling or mild stinging for a few minutes
The peel is neutralized/removed, and calming skincare is applied

Most appointments take 20–30 minutes.

After The Peel

Expect tightness or dryness for 1–2 days
Peeling and flaking is more common around days 2–4
Skin may look bronzed or slightly darker before it sheds
Use gentle cleanser, moisturizer and SPF
Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids, and scrubs for 5–7 days (or as directed)
