CO2 laser resurfacing can help soften fine lines around the eyes and mouth, smooth rough or crepey skin, and improve the overall appearance of sun-damaged skin. Treatment may also help reduce certain age spots and uneven pigmentation, creating a more even-looking complexion.
While fractional CO2 laser can improve skin texture and mild laxity, it cannot restore lost facial volume or correct significant laxity.

How Fractional CO2 Works
SecretPro® CO2 is an ablative laser treatment that creates controlled microscopic treatment zones within the skin.
These treatment zones remove small areas of damaged skin and stimulate a healing response that supports collagen remodeling.
The laser's depth, density, and treatment intensity can be adjusted according to the patient's skin and treatment goals.
Stronger treatment isn't automatically better treatment. The appropriate settings depend on your skin type, concern, medical history, and ability to accommodate recovery.

What happens during CO2 Treatment?
Following your assessment, topical numbing is used to help improve comfort. Pro-Nox®, a patient-controlled nitrous oxide system, is also available at the practice. You may still experience heat, stinging, or discomfort during treatment.
Dr. Kleydman uses carefully selected laser settings based on the treatment area and your individual needs.
The full appointment, including preparation, numbing, and aftercare, typically takes approximately 60–90 minutes, depending on the areas being treated. Detailed aftercare instructions are provided to guide your recovery.
How To Prepare for Your CO2 Laser Treatment
Before treatment
Avoid sun exposure and tanning (including self-tanner) for at least 4 weeks beforehand. Discontinue retinoids, acids, scrubs, and exfoliating products 1–2 weeks before treatment, as directed.
Day of Your Appointment
Tell us about any recent procedures, medications, or changes in your health, especially if you’ve used isotretinoin or have a history of keloids or abnormal scarring.
After Treatment
You’ll follow a detailed post-care plan with specific cleansers, moisturizers, and ointments to protect the healing skin barrier.
What To Expect During Recovery
Recovery is an important part of choosing CO2 resurfacing.
Because this treatment intentionally creates controlled injury to the skin, redness, swelling, and peeling are expected during healing. Your recovery will depend on the treatment area, intensity, and individual healing response.

Dr. Kate Kleydman, FAAD
Dr. Kleydman earned her medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM) and completed her internship at North Shore LIJ/Plainview Hospital. She continued her training in dermatology at Saint Barnabas Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident.
Following her residency, she completed a Fellowship in Procedural Dermatology and Mohs Micrographic Surgery at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. This advanced training encompassed dermatologic surgery, cosmetic dermatology, and laser procedures, establishing the foundation for her comprehensive approach to skin health and aesthetics.
