What does Excel V+ treat?
Excel V+ is most commonly used for concerns related to visible vessels, redness, and discoloration.
It may be recommended for:
- Broken capillaries around the nose
- Facial redness and flushing
- Rosacea-related redness
- Visible facial veins
- Post-acne redness and discoloration
- Sun spots and brown spots
- Redness in scars
- Cherry angiomas
- Spider veins on the face or body
- Chest redness or sun damage
- Uneven tone caused by visible vessels or pigment
What Excel V+ does — and what it does not do
Excel V+ is designed to target visible vessels, redness, and select pigment concerns, including broken capillaries, facial redness, red scars, post-acne discoloration, sun spots, and certain vascular lesions. It uses dual-wavelength laser energy to selectively target hemoglobin in visible blood vessels and melanin in certain pigment concerns.
This controlled heat response helps collapse unwanted vessels or break down excess pigment so the body can naturally process and clear the treated area over time. Excel V+ does not deeply resurface texture, tighten loose skin, replace CO2 laser for deeper acne scars, or replace injectables for volume loss — which is why an in-person evaluation matters to determine whether Excel V+ or another treatment is the right fit.
Common Treatment Areas:
Nose
Excel V+ is commonly used to treat small visible vessels and broken capillaries around the nose.
Cheeks
For patients with redness, flushing, rosacea-related redness, or visible capillaries, Excel V+ may help reduce the look of diffuse redness and unwanted vessels.
Full face
A full-face treatment may be recommended when redness, visible vessels, or pigment concerns are spread across multiple areas.
Chest
Excel V+ can be used to target redness, sun-related discoloration, and visible vascular changes on the chest when appropriate.
Legs and body vessels
Excel V+ may also be used on select visible vessels on the legs or body. The treatment area and number of sessions depend on the size, depth, and type of vessel being treated.
Post-acne redness
If breakouts have healed but red or discolored marks remain, Excel V+ may be part of a plan to help the skin look clearer and more even over time.
What to Expect
Can Excel V+ Laser be done the same day?
In many cases, Excel V+ can be performed the same day as your consultation if your skin is an appropriate candidate and the treatment area is safe to treat.
Dr. Kleydman will first assess your skin type, redness or pigment concern, recent sun exposure, medications, and overall treatment goals before deciding whether same-day treatment is appropriate.
One week before treatment
To help prepare your skin, avoid tanning, self-tanner, and unnecessary sun exposure before your appointment.
Dr. Kleydman also recommends pausing retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs, or other active products depending on your skin sensitivity and treatment area.
If you are planning Excel V+ before an event, we recommend scheduling ahead so any redness, swelling, or pigment darkening has time to settle.
During Your Appointment
During treatment
Your skin will be evaluated in-office, and Dr. Kleydman will identify the redness, visible vessels, or pigment being treated.
The laser settings are customized based on your concern, skin type, and treatment area. You may feel a quick snap, warmth, or mild stinging sensation with each pulse.
Treatment time depends on the area, but many Excel V+ sessions take approximately 30–40 minutes.
After treatment
Redness and mild swelling are common for 1–3 days, especially when treating diffuse redness, rosacea-related redness, or vascular areas.
If brown spots or sun spots are treated, they may temporarily darken before fading or flaking over the next several days.
Most patients can return to normal daily activities shortly after treatment, but you will be advised to avoid heat, steam, saunas, hot showers, intense exercise, and direct sun exposure immediately afterward.
Daily broad-spectrum SPF is important after Excel V+ to protect your skin and help maintain your results.
