Sculptra is a biostimulatory injectable that works by stimulating your body’s natural collagen production. Over time, it helps reinforce the skin’s underlying structure, improving firmness, smoothing the cheek area, and creating more support and definition along the jawline.

How Sculptra Supports Collagen
Collagen is a structural protein that helps give the skin its firmness, strength, and support. As collagen levels naturally decline with age, the skin can become thinner and less resilient, contributing to fine lines, wrinkles, laxity, and changes in facial structure.
Sculptra is designed to stimulate the body’s own collagen production. Its active ingredient, poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA-SCA), helps trigger a gradual remodeling response within the skin, supporting the development of new collagen over time.
As this collagen network rebuilds, it can help reinforce the skin’s underlying structure and improve firmness, support, and overall facial contour.

Can Sculptra be done the same day?
In many cases, Sculptra can be performed the same day as your consultation if you are a good candidate and treatment timing makes sense.
Because Sculptra is planned as a series for many patients, Dr. Kleydman will review the number of vials, treatment areas, session timing, and expected progression before treatment.
One week before treatment
Avoid unnecessary sun exposure, tanning, and self-tanner.
If medically safe, you may be asked to avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, or other blood-thinning medications and supplements before treatment to help reduce bruising.
Please let our team know if you have upcoming events, recent cosmetic treatments, new medications, a history of cold sores, autoimmune conditions, or any health changes.
Treatment & Recovery
During Treatment
After numbing, your skin will be cleansed and the treatment areas will be carefully marked.
Sculptra is injected in strategic areas based on your anatomy and plan. You may feel pressure, pinching, or mild tenderness during treatment.
Most appointments take approximately 60 minutes, including numbing time.
After Treatment
Swelling, tenderness, redness, or bruising can happen after treatment and usually improves within a few days.
You may be instructed to massage the treated areas using the 5-5-5 rule: 5 minutes, 5 times per day, for 5 days.
Dr. Kleydman will walk you through your aftercare instructions before you leave, including what to avoid and when to resume your normal skincare, makeup, and exercise routine

Sculptra for the Body
Buttocks
Sculptra may be used for subtle contour improvement in appropriate candidates. This usually requires a larger series than facial treatment.
Hip Dips
Sculptra may help soften the look of mild contour irregularity in select patients.
Arms
Sculptra may be considered when thinning or crepey skin is a concern.
Above the Knees
Sculptra may be used in select cases where skin quality and laxity are the main concern.
Body Sculptra is highly individualized. The number of vials, session timing, and expected results will be reviewed during consultation.
